Power365 Setup Pro for Outlook

Power365 optionally provides the user the ability to automatically configure their Outlook client to use the destination mailbox. For this feature to be successful, the following will be required on each user’s Windows workstation.

General Requirements

  1. Internet access to download the Power365 Setup Pro executable and connect to Office 365.
  2. The permission to download and run an executable (exe) file.
  3. Disable any policies preventing Outlook Profile changes or creation.
  4. The user will need to be supplied with the new or temporary password for the new account residing in the destination Office 365 tenant. (if applicable)

Minimum Software Prerequisites

  1. Outlook 2010 (32-bit or 64-bit) or higher
  2. Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit) or Windows 10 (32-bit or 64-bit)
  3. .NET 4.0 or higher

User Workstation Requirements

  1. Internet access using Port 443.
  2. Internet access to the Power365 Outlook agent endpoint at https://power365.binarytree.com/api/outlook
  3. Internet access to Exchange Online "Autodiscover" endpoints at:

         a. Global: https://autodiscover-s.outlook.com/autodiscover

         b. China: https://autodiscover-s.partner.outlook.cn/autodiscover

         c. Germany: https://autodiscover-s.outlook.de/autodiscover

  4. Local access to read\write the following registry keys on the end-user's workstation:

         a. Outlook 2010: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem

         b. Outlook 2013: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0

         c. Outlook 2016: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0

         d. Outlook 32-bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office

         e. Outlook 64-bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office

NOTE: During this process, the Outlook Profile will be copied to a new Profile directed to the target account. Due to this configuration, a new OST download will occur based on your current cache settings, if enabled. To avoid network congestion try disabling or curtailing your cache settings to a lower amount of data then slowly increase it as needed. This can be accomplished through policies.

Supported Use Cases

The following are the supported use cases when installing and executing the Binary Tree Power365 Setup Pro agent from the user cutover notification.

  1. Single User on a single workstation.
  2. Multiple Workstations for the same user.
  3. Different Users on the same workstation under their own Windows Profile.

Power365 Setup Pro supports environments that utilize Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS), Single Sign On (SSO) with mixed authentication modes being used such as Modern Authentication (ADAL), Forms Authentication and Windows Integrated Authentication.

 

How do you install Power365 Setup Pro using a GPO (Group Policy Object)?

Refer to the Requirements to verify all workstations meet the requirements for installation.

 

  1. Click the Download MSI Silent Installer button in the interface to download the Power365 Setup Pro Installer MSI.
  2. Right-click on the Power365 Setup Pro Installer MSI, point to Share with, and click on specific people.
  3. Add a security group. The "authenticated users" group already includes all computers and is a good group to use. The group you add must have the shared Read permission and NTFS permission.
  4. Click Share.
  5. Click Done.
  6. From the Start menu, point to Administrative Tools and click on Group Policy Management.
  7. Right-click on the domain or OU you will be migrating and click on Create a GPO in this domain, and link it here.
  8. In the New GPO dialog box, enter a Name for the GPO and click OK.
  9. Click on the new GPO and click OK.
  10. Right-click on the GPO and select Edit.
  11. Open Computer Configuration > Policies > Software Settings and right-click on Software Installation and then point to New and click on Package.
  12. In the File Name field, enter the UNC path to the MSI file and click Open.
  13. Select Power365 Setup Pro and click Open.
  14. In the Deploy Software window, select the Assigned deployment method and click OK.

The device must be rebooted for the applied group policy to complete the installation.

 

How do you verify the GPO?

  1. Log on to a workstation within the scope of the GPO using administrator credentials.
  2. From a command prompt on the workstation, run gpresult -r
  3. The Computer Settings section will display the applied group policy.

A newly applied group policy will not immediately be displayed.

The Computer Settings section displays the applied group policy, but the installation is not completed until the device is rebooted.

 

How do you manually install Power365 Setup Pro?

Refer to the Requirements to verify all workstations meet the requirements for installation.

  1. Click the Download MSI Silent Installer button in the interface to download the Power365 Setup Pro Installer MSI.
  2. Copy the Power365 Setup Pro Installer MSI file to each computer.
  3. Double-click the file to open the installer.
  4. On the Welcome screen, click Next.

  5. On the Ready to Install the Program screen, click Install.

  6. When the install completes, click Finish.
